Welcome to our DNA videos…

We're now offering video archives of past DNA Radio Shows, with Vince Daniels and Paul Andrews. To kick things off, we lay the groundwork for DNA's humble beginnings by featuring segments from the first three shows.

From the May 9th, 2009 inaugural we begin almost 7 minutes before Vince hits the theme song and show opener. For this special "Comeback Video," Vince wanted to get his listeners' and viewers' (of KCAA Internet-TV) attention by signing off the station and allow himself to return to the air on his own terms following a 21-month absence from KCAA.

The video contains innocent images near and dear to Vince and Paul from their youth. You can read more about this in Vince's "Welcome Back" message in our Essay Archive. If you're wondering how Joel Hodgson and the robots got included in this montage, it is to pay homage to "Beany and Cecil," an image that appears prior and was the inspiration for "Mystery Science Theater, 3000."

11/07/09: Getting to know your Candidates

This was the first in what will be a series of shows where Vince has asked Jay Boatman and Crista Curtis to guest host The DNA Radio Show whenever the occassion arises for them to interview the various political candidates in contention for the highest state office in California.

On the day of this broadcast, it would be almost a year to the day that Californians would go to the polls to elect their new Governor.  The offer is made for all the gubernatorial candidates of all political parties to appear on this new feature called "Getting to know your Candidates" – including the Constitution Party, whose candidate was well represented in the person of Chelene Nightingale.

Each candidate is being offered the opportunity to appear one time with Jay and Crista for a 90 minute Q&A including same from callers.  After all of the gubernatorial candidates have appeared (who have accepted the invitation), Boatman and Curtis will have them all gather for a 2-hour faceoff later on, prior to the November 2010 election.  Check out the  November 7, 2009 show video here.

06/27/09: The Right To Life (Part 1 of 2)

Paul was back east for a family reunion, but Jay Boatman and Crista Curtis joined Vince for this first of a two-parter on the topic of Abortion.  On the show by phone in the first hour were Bob and Bev Cielnecky to lay some basic groundwork for this important discussion.

The Cielnecky's have been active in the pro-life movement for 35 years. Bev is the National President of Crusade For Life, a non-profit, educational organization bringing the pro-life message to the Christian community.  Bob is the Director of Life Priority Network, which primarily focuses on California legislation affecting crucial life issues of abortion, infanticide, euthanasia and cloning.

The second hour welcomed pro-choice activist and comedian, Betsy Salkind.  Salkind is also an author of  "Betsy's Sunday School Bible Classics."   It was a passage from her book that sparked in-studio guest, the Rev. Patrick J. Mahoney of The Christian Defense Coalition to challenge her on her definition of life, in what was a heated exchange.

He took time away from a 10-day retreat that he was attending with the Survivors of the Abortion Holocaust - a group of young people that accompanied Mahoney to offer him their prayers and support, both off and on the radio.  Two of the survivors, Amaris Gonzales and Adam Shelton shared their reasons for being part of this organization and spoke rather frankly to the pro-choice guest.  Check out the June 27, 2009 show video here.

7/4/09: The Right To Life (Part 2 of 2)

Vinnie, once again reunited with his partner, Paul Andrews, were both joined by Crista Curtis who enjoyed herself so much in Part 1, she couldn't possibly stay away for the conclusion of this special series which examines the flipside to all the pro-choice arguments as they apply to the subject of Abortion.

Somebody that was once on the other side of the argument was Lorraine Johnson, an in-studio guest who during the first hour shared her story.  Lorraine is a Christian mother, former dancer and a pro-life activist/blogger.  She calls herself a "friend of the unborn" and shared her longtime guilt associated with having had an abortion a few years ago.

Still on their retreat but taking time away to return to the KCAA studios and The DNA Radio Show were the Survivors of the Abortion Holocaust.  Two of the young people that were not able to speak on the previous show really opened their hearts for Part 2, including spina bifida victim, Tiffany Boyd and an emotional moment from survivor, Presley Crowe.

Joining this already powerful show in the second hour was Brandi Lozier of Shreveport, Louisiana. She was on the other side of the Abortion argument in an entirely different way. Brandi was supposed to be an Abortion. Almost 25 years ago after a saline injection, Lozier burned alive inside the womb of her mother.  Her powerful testimony provides the backdrop for a discussion of Barack Obama's "Born Alive" legislation.

05/16/09: Old Friends Join the DNA Radio Show

Having already introduced Paul Andrews, in week #2, the DNA Radio Show saw the return of three of Vince's old friends to the microphone as he rounds out the cast by welcoming back semi-regular show contributors, Jay Boatman, Crista Curtis and Nick Anthony, each offering a unique voice to the show. The "top-of-the-hour music memory" banter opens this show. Vince also talks about the deal that has been inked with the station. That day, the topic was a hot button one: Illegal Immigration. Check out the videos from May 16, 2009 show here.

05/23/09: A life is Celebrated and Grief Examined

Another full show is featured as week #3 brings it back full circle to Daniels and Andrews and tells the story of how Vince re-connected with his old friend Paul on an unforgettable March weekend in 2009, as another of Vince's old friends passes away. This show featured a celebration of the life of Kristi Shephard, who died on March 22nd.

The first hour opens with the story of how while Kristi was on life support, Vince had given up on finding a partner for a show that was getting ready to debut. Originally, DNA was only going to run for 36 weeks. Through her death, Kristi touched the life of The DNA Radio Show as its contract was shortly after extended to 25 months.

DNA honored Kristi and also examined grief and the grieving process with Russell Friedman, author of "The Grief Recovery Handbook" and President of The Grief Recovery Institute in Los Angeles. Check out the May 23, 2009 show video here.
