After this show DNA will return in April, but not until it's invaded once again by guest hosts, J. Francis and the Sexy Pippi of their own nightly "J.Francis Radio" on the internet. They braved pouring rain to do morning radio as they shamelessly took on advertising and commercials, including an infomercial that aired on KCAA in the time slot preceding theirs. The prime focus were the ads that would play on the next day's Super Bowl, along with the commercials that would not be shown. They nicely wove Super Bowl Sunday into a discussion of Relationships and the importance of not changing who you are in order to please the other. KCAA engineer, Joe Shaff was part of the show. The podcast is here.

Paul Andrews was sorry he couldn't be on hand to assist fellow host, Vince Daniels' guest, Sheila James Kuehl in announcing the winners of the previous week's T.V. trivia contest. It was a "Dobie Gillis" question and Kuehl, who played Zelda on the show, talked about her acting and future political career; in what would be D & A's final show for several weeks, in advance of his next medical leave, Vinnie hosted an hour-long Medical Roundtable featuring Dr. David Suh, a Laparoscopic Surgeon from Crown Surgery Medical Group in Corona. Also, Dr.  H. Austin Hewlett, DPM, FACFAS who provided some balance by addressing proper nutrition; "55 Years of Rock & Roll's # 1's" returned with two from 1954, the last year of the Hit Parade era. Listen to the audio podcast here.

He thought he'd be off on another medical leave by now, but Vince Daniels is here for another month of shows as he welcomes back his co-host, Paul Andrews and once again they welcome back their special guest, Gerald Celente of Trends Research Institute during the first hour.  The topic for both hours is taxes: Celente discusses what he calls "a coming tax revolt." In the second hour, economist Wayne Jett joins the show to talk about the Fair Tax, and how it differs with the Flat Tax.  According to Jett, "by instituting the Fair Tax for all Americans, April 15th would be just another day in our lives." Paul began a new year with a new T.V. trivia question in the first hour. The audio podcast is here.

Jan. 2, 2010

Tom Anthony returned to DNA to join Vince in welcoming a New Year by reminding him that "you cannot see a new love, with an old love in your sights."  Both are joined by telephone in the second hour by Michael Riley, author of "The Goodbye Book" who was featured briefly in a clip during Vinnie's story on the 12/26/09 show.  Mike listened and had some thoughts to offer concerning that story. Good discussion as both guests agreed that Vince won't permit himself to have the closure that he knows he needs.  Tom helped Daniels to pilot The DNA Radio Show nearly 10 months ago. Since then, T.A. has worked aboard Amtrak and will share some of his own train stories.  Please forgive the low audio of Riley during the first half of his appearance. Check out the audio podcast here.

Dec. 26, 2009

Hosting alone, Vince does his last show of 2009 by talking about closure.  Reflecting on yet another Christmas where Santa Claus never came, he remembers the most significant event of this past year was "taking my own trip to the North Pole."  It was actually a trip to Oregon by train in September in order for him to seek atonement for a regret that he's carried for 25 years.  A tormented Vince Daniels takes his listeners on a train ride back to August 14, 1984 to share the story of his long, lost love.  Moments after this broadcast, KCAA's owner, Fred Lundgren called Vinnie to tell him that "what I just listened to was the most riveting 2 hours of radio that I've heard since I've owned this station." Listen to the audio podcast here.

Dec. 24, 2009

It was a first for Vinnie and his crew who were on hand for this two-hour holiday themed show.  For one, it was the first time DNA was heard in weekday afternoon drive time.  It was also the first time that Daniels and Jay Boatman were heard via telephone in separate hours of the show. The first hour began with Vince on his way to the studio from the Riverside "Tyler Mall" where he was earlier doing a KCAA remote.  Jay was featured in studio with Paul Andrews and Crista Curtis for only the first hour, then left to fulfill some family obligations.  He called in from the road during hour No. 2. Among the discussions was a somewhat heated one concerning the health care bill which had passed the Senate earlier that morning. Listen to the audio podcast here.

Dec. 19, 2009

Vince and Paul together for a busy show that expanded on the "55 Years of Rock & Roll's Number 1's" by welcoming Peter Ford.  The son of late actor, Glenn Ford told the story of how he loaned some songs from his record collection to a movie executive, who chose the B-side of a Bill Haley record. It happened to be Rock Around The Clock which became the theme for "Blackboard Jungle" and the rest is history; trends forecaster, Gerald Celente at the top of the second hour with grim economic and climate predictions for 2010; A.J. Jacobson, publisher of the Ducks Sports Authority, chronicles the 2009 Oregon Ducks season and their rise to The Rose Bowl where they play Ohio State on January 1st. Check out the audio podcast here.

Dec. 12, 2009

In time for the holidays, a special hosted by Vince Daniels and DNA Radio Show announcer, Bruce Barker.  From the opening, Vinnie assures Bruce of how much he prides himself on how all his shows must be original shows and that no podcast be re-broadcast on KCAA and then show up twice on the podcast page.  Case in point, this one which originally aired in December of 2006 on "The Many Moods."  Jay Boatman guest hosted with Daniels for this classic that featured a 90 minute light-hearted yet heavy conversation with in-studio guest, Russell Friedman of The Grief Recovery Institute talking about grieving our losses over the holidays. The audio podcast is here.

Dec. 5, 2009

D & A together again. Vinnie opened with a blues-rock song congratulating the Rose Bowl-bound Oregon Ducks; Paul Andrews announced a trivia contest winner and asked another T.V.question; in her first DNA appearance since "The Many Moods," etiquette expert, Samantha von Sperling offered her take on the Tiger Woods scandal; the second hour welcomed health insurance expert, James Lansberry to discuss the advance of the National Healthcare Bill to the U.S. Senate;  Paul had some thoughts on last week's show about Sarah Palin. Clips of Palin were included. Listen to the audio podcast here.

Nov. 28, 2009

It's Vince Daniels solo again. His opening rant lays out KCAA's news/talk format by addressing the difference between their top of the hour newscasts and the opinion-based remainder of the hour. He wonders why the line between objective reporting and commentary have been blurred by other media.  His guest uses the 2008 election to make that point.  John Ziegler is a fellow radio talk host, columnist and filmmaker whose documentary "Media Malpractice: How Obama Got Elected And Palin Was Targeted" is discussed;  in the first hour, Vinnie goes back to 1951 to play what some historians consider to be the first Rock & Roll song. The audio podcast is here.

Nov. 21, 2009

Handling this Pre-Thanksgiving show solo, Vince Daniels explained that he'll be doing more shows alone, and that he's tired of explaining his show; a segment with "Newsman Nick" Anthony welcoming calls from listeners that feel awkward about going home for the holiday; a conversation with ancient history researcher, Tom Horn, author of "Apollyon Rising 2012" who wanted to dispel any hysteria surrounding the ancient Mayan's claim that 2012 marks the end of the world; Eric Denton, Pastor of Central Community Christian Fellowship in Riverside joined the show with parishoner Linda Zastrow to talk about how they plan to feed anyone who needs a Thanksgiving meal. Check out the audio podcast here.

Nov. 14, 2009

For Vince Daniels, it's been over 3 months since he departed on his hiatus for health.  He rejoined partner Paul Andrews on DNA but explained that he'll only be back for 7 shows before going on the final phase of his medical leave.   D & A reopened the Treasure Trove of TV Trivia; Vince began a new feature called "55 years of Rock & Roll's Number 1's;"  Selma Oregon singer/songwriter Dawna was featured performing a Taylor Swift cover; also hailing from Selma, joining the show by phone for the entire second hour was American Idol season 7 finalist, Kristy Lee Cook talking about her latest album, "Why Wait."   Please excuse low audio of Cook at start of interview and a telephone malfunction. Listen to the audio podcast here.

Nov. 7, 2009

Jay Boatman returned for a second week of guest hosting duties, this time joined by partner, Crista Curtis who devoted 90 minutes to kicking off what will become their own ongoing special signature segment called "Getting to know your Candidates."  Between now and November 2010, Boatman and Curtis' goal will be to interview all the gubernatorial candidates for California's highest office.  First up:  Chelene Nightingale, who visited in-studio and is running on the independent, Constitution Party ticket.  She was queried on exactly what that party stands for, why she feels that the two major parties need to take a break,  and also took questions from callers. The audio podcast is here.

Oct. 31, 2009

Jay Boatman always wanted to guest host The DNA Radio Show solo and he finally got the opportunity, on Halloween no less.  His rants included the topic of Halloween and how much he feels that parents have micro managed their kids on what is supposed to be a fun day. First hour rants also included the war in Afghanistan and the debate that continues on Obama's health care plan; in the second hour, Jay welcomed guest, David Conn, a cult mentality expert with a scary story.  He drew a parallel between what Rev. Jim Jones did in Guyana 30 years ago and what he sees Obama doing today.  Nick Anthony took over starting today as KCAA's new weekend news anchor. Check out the audio podcast here.

Oct. 24, 2009

Making his guest hosting debut, Joe Patrick took over with  "Two Hours of the Truth."   From the DNA opening theme song, Joe lunged right in, ordering his engineer to turn off the music and saying that he only had 2 hours and too much truth to get out.  Not only that, he asked that his microphone be turned up.  "I believe the truth should be loud and in your face!"   Broadcast on the day following the 8th anniversary of 9-11, Patrick repeated his belief that all roads lead from and lead back to September 11th, 2001.   He received calls of support and also a caller telling him that he wouldn't get very many callers if he keeps referring to his listeners as "sheeple," which he did numerous times throughout his many rants.
