Jay Boatman offers the voice of a true "Angelino"

Jay Boatman

Jay Boatman is a true "Angelino" at heart. Born Jason Barquero and raised in the Los Angeles area, Jay has led an interesting young career dating back to his days where he met Vince at WPMD 1700 AM.

From 1999 through 2001, Jay became a radio host at WPMD on the campus of Cerritos Community College. There, he was an on-air personality and public service announcer while earning his Associate in Arts degree. During this time he continued to pursue his training in communications by earning certificates of on-air talent from the Del Mar Media Arts School in Irvine, California.

Jay also became the voice behind several local English and Spanish cable television commercials for what was known at the time as MediaOne Cable. In 2004, he earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Speech Communication from California State University, Fullerton.

After a small hiatus, Jay resurrected his passion for radio in 2006 by assuming the role of announcer and sometimes co-host of The Many Moods of Vince Daniels on KCAA 1050 AM. His political punditry, outspoken approach, and witty personality had made him a staple of the Vince Daniels Show. From topics such as illegal immigration to the economy to even religion, Jay has never shied away from healthy, spirited debates or hard-hitting interviews.

They say that behind every great man is a great woman. If that saying holds true, Jay is no exception to the rule. On June 28 2008, Jay married his beloved girlfriend of seven years. For Jay, there has been no greater backbone and lifeline than his wife, Rocio. They now reside in Downey, California.

Today, Jay serves in a leadership role in the higher education industry. In this capacity, Jay counsels students, reaches out with the community and alumni, and serves as the local Spanish media spokesperson for his university. This year he earned a Master of Arts degree in Sport Management from California State University, Long Beach, in order to pursue his passion for sports broadcast journalism.

Son of both Costa Rican and Mexican immigrant parents, Jay takes great pride in his bilingual, multi-cultural background. As a first generation Hispanic-American, Jay represents a large percentage of the growing population in Southern California. Given his liberal take on immigration reform, his mostly conservative Republican leaning views on world politics makes him a "minority" among his community.

Now he has reunited with Vinnie as a semi-regular personality, pundit and occasional guest host for The DNA Radio Show. As a proud member of the DNA family, Jay will discuss anything and everything going on in the world of politics, religion, and whatever other topic happens to come up.

Crista Curtis - public service and politics are her passions

Crista Curtis

After graduating in less than three years from University of California , Riverside, with a degree in Business Administration, Crista Curtis almost followed in her parents’ footsteps as educators and started out as a substitute teacher.

Realizing her passion for politics she applied for law school and completed her Juris Doctor in 2.5 years, interning at both the Orange County District Attorney’s Office and Legal Aid Society of Orange County. After her internships, she got hired to work for a representative of the California State Assembly.

Crista continued to follow her educational background in business and her inborn desire for public service. She went to work as a campaign finance manager, then onto the Development Department at the City of Riverside . Just when housing started to boom in the Inland Empire, Crista went to work for a National Homebuilder where she enjoyed a challenging and diverse career working as a Government Affairs Representative and a project manager.

By chance, Vince met Curtis over the internet, interviewed her one week later in person, and reignited her fire and passion for politics. Crista was a semi-regular contributor on the Vince Daniels Show for almost 2 years, and is ecstatic to be back in her same seat, catching up again with Vinnie on his latest venture. When Daniels originally brought her aboard, he knew that he needed a local voice from a person that grew up in the I.E.

Crista is currently working with public agencies on water conservation. She is a firm believer in traditional family values, has been a devout Christian her entire life, a conservative “Laura Ingraham-esque” Republican, and wants to see education reform in the State of California.

Unafraid to speak her mind, she has become the one person on Vince's crew that listeners "love to hate." Our guess is that they must love her. The phone calls and comments come in, everytime she visits the show.

You can email Crista Curtis at Crista@DNARadioShow.com.

Nick Anthony is known as "the angry black man"

Nick Anthony

Nick Anthony started in radio back in 2001 at the old Catholic Family-owned KPLS AM 830. When Nick started he was a Board Engineer for the third shift.

Nick quickly escalated his skills in radio when he was named the Board Engineer for the Legendary Newsman, George Putnam. Everyday from Noon to 2 p.m. Nick, George and Chuck Wilder (George’s producer) would put on 50,000 watts of "Original Talkback". After two years with the company, the powers that be decided to sell the up and coming powerhouse station to some pro-illegal immigrant entertainment outlet, sending Nick and other broadcasters out of work.

In 2003, it didn’t take Nick long to find his way back in the industry. With KPLS under his belt and the networking that was done, he came in contact with Lee Kline (former air talent from KFI 640 and KLAC 570). Nick and Lee would combine in December of ‘03 on XTRA Sports on AM 570. While working there Nick would Engineer various sporting events such as Clippers Basketball as well as "Last Call with Lee Kline" daily on that station.

In 2005 Nick left XTRA Sports for KLSX 97.1FM. Shortly after Nick would be asked to move to KNX 1070 working under esteemed Program Director, David G. Hall. While at KNX Nick worked daily with money man Bob McCormick, now seen on KCAL 9 and CBS 2 in Los Angeles.

Prior to the KNX stint, Nick would be part of KCAA AM 1050. With the birth of his own "H.T.O.S." program, Nick knew he would have to get back into the news arena where he felt more comfortable. With his co-host, Howard Drescher, Anthony's H.T.O.S. would be the hardest hitting talk show in the Inland Empire, taking on topics like illegal immigration and various local issues that raised flags all over the city. Listeners would call in to state their opinions on local issues and rally behind the hosts.

As a result, Nick was featured in several news articles calling out the Mayor of San Bernardino and other Politicians. In addition to his hard-edged opening monologes, many of those same listeners thought of him as some kind of "angry black man;" a moniker that follows him back to KCAA where he will provide DNA with occassional rants by way of spurring spirited discussion and phone calls.

Over this decade, he has seen many genres of entertainment, however according to Anthony, "news-talk is my passion. Guys like George Putnam and Chuck Wilder instilled their views in me going back to 2001. Views that portray the way Local, State and National Government works." And now Nick is back to instill it into you.

You can email Nick Anthony at Nick@DNARadioShow.com.
