Vince Daniels aka "Commander Vinnie"

Vince Daniels

Vince, whom Paul refers to as "Commander Vinnie" hails from Detroit. His family came to California when he was a year old and settled in Orange County. One of the things they brought with them was the music of Motown, and that's all Vinnie really connects to his birthplace, since he can't possibly have any memories of Michigan.

As a lad, Vince played every album, 45, and 78 rpm record in his parents' vast collection, sometimes using the 78's as frisbee's. This is where he developed a love for all different styles of music; a love that would one day inspire him to take a college radio class and learn to be a disc-jockey. This later lead to a paying job where he spent a year as a nighttime Love Songs Host on KQLH in San Bernardino in the late 1980's.

After endless sappy requests and dedications, Daniels soon learned that his real D.J. talents needed to start rockin' in a nightclub setting. He would later spin the oldies of the 50's and 60's at Bill Medley's club, The Righteous Brothers Hop in Fountain Valley. It was there that his true personality developed and brought him full circle back in to radio years later as a talk show host.

Vince created and began hosting his own talker, "The Many Moods of Vince Daniels," starting in 2001 at internet station, WPMD, and after 5 years brought it to the Inland Empire's KCAA 1050 AM for almost a year and a half.

For much of his life, Vince was a heavy TV watcher. He remembers that as a kid television trivia games were a big thing in his old Garden Grove neighborhood. As he grew up, he missed all that fun. Then one day in 1999 he showed up at the Westminster Mall. It was the first year that Nickelodeon held it's "Ultimate Fan" contest there.

That year Vinnie became the "Ultimate Fan," winning their TV trivia contest and a thousand dollar shopping spree.

He had so much fun that he returned to the same mall the following year for the 2nd annual contest. It was there that he met one of the warmest, nicest people in the world who also grew up watching a lot of TV. Paul Andrews became that year's "Ultimate Fan." The two became instant friends but fell out of touch a couple years later.

Recently, Vinnie learned that he was living in the Inland Empire close to the KCAA radio station where Daniels was planning on returning with a new show. He gave Paul a call and the rest is history.

One of the other commonalities shared by D&A is that they both work for FedEx. Recently, Paul reminded Vinnie of the words of FedEx Chairman, Frederick W. Smith who once asked the question, "what are the two most important elements in having a successful business?" The answer: "to create and keep a customer." In the same spirit, The DNA Radio Show strives to do the same with its listeners.

Paul Andrews is a storehouse of trivia

Paul Andrews

Paul, whom his friends call Pablo was born on a small obscure island in the Caribbean…some may have heard of it…Jamaica in the city of Kingston quite a while ago. He immigrated to America at a young age and grew up in Brooklyn and Queens in New York. He moved to Los Angeles to escape the cold, being a warm weather kind of guy at heart.

He had a sickness called love of airplanes and made keeping them safe for flight his career which he has been involved in for over 35 years. His endeavors were spent in the employ of major air carriers. He numbers some of his successes to a man named Fred Smith for whom he worked in the air division. That is the Fred Smith who is the founder of FedEx Corp.

During the course of this career he was married and raised 3 children who are wonderful people thanks in no small part to the fact that their mother is an extraordinary woman. Unfortunately, he was unable to keep her and they split several years ago.

In 2000, he became the Nickelodeon “Ultimate Fan” representing Los Angeles. It was the first time his amassed volume of useless trivia and facts were of any practical use. In fact he used to refer to himself as a storehouse of a million dollars worth of useless information.

It afforded him a trip to New York to celebrate his mother’s 90th birthday as well as an opportunity to tee off Chuck Woolery when he recorded the show. It was also a rather dubious 15 minutes of fame in which he was able to look like a complete boob unable to activate his response button.

It was at the qualifier for the “Ultimate Fan” he became acquainted with Commander Vince Daniels, a sobriquet he in fact, coined.

He lives in the High Desert, where he discovered he could not hide from the snow he detests. He is still active in keeping airplanes safe for flight. Unfortunately, he no longer coaches kids in soccer, baseball or softball which he did for many years, as his children have grown.

Thus we come to the DNA Show where along with Commander Vinnie he can amuse, cajole, inspire and annoy a vastly larger and diverse group of people.
